Yuuki Hase, sixteen, musters the confidence to approach his crush and ask her if she wants to be friends. Kaori Fujimiya, the object of his desire, is a shy and withdrawn girl who isolates herself from everyone and treats him with the same harsh rejection she gives everyone else. Yuuki discovers her eating lunch on the roof where she secludes herself during break. He resolves to meet with Kaori every day in the hopes of better understanding her. She continues to open up to him as they spend more time together. However, as the week progresses, she begins to push him away once more.
